Across the miles: removing isolation
I work for Annesbrook Leadership College which has it’s central offices and teaching facility in Nelson, New Zealand. We have regional campuses located in Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru and Auckland where we have people onsite to enable quality assurance for the delivery of our programmes, and who represent us on the ground for students to have a ‘go to person’ at their physical location. We call these representatives our regional coordinators.
Feedback we received from one of our regional coordinators in 2017 was the feeling of isolation and the perception that they were missing out on information. We discussed this issue at our 2018 orientation retreat and decided to hold a termly online meeting using video conferencing software, Zoom. The result has been significant in the flow of information and the collaboration within the whole team. All individuals now feel included, valued and connected.
